Dr Mayra Mayr-Eduardoff
Dr. Mayra Eduardoff is an Assistant Professor of Forensic Science at Sam Houston State University, specializing in forensic genetics, DNA analysis method development, and new DNA typing technologies. She holds a Ph.D. in Genetics & Genomics (Honors) from the Medical University of Innsbruck, where she focused her research on autosomal and mitochondrial markers for forensic identification. Her extensive educational background also includes an M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and a B.Sc. in Biology specializing in Microbiology from the University of Innsbruck, an MBA from University of Grenoble, France and a B.A. in Economics and French from the University of Sussex. With a successful career in forensic science, Dr. Eduardoff has served in various significant roles, including as a Head of DNA Laboratories and Science & Technology Coordinator at the International Commission on Missing Persons, and Forensic Identification Coordinator at the International Committee of the Red Cross. She has a proven track record of managing laboratory operations, conducting forensic genetic testing under ISO 17025 standards, and advancing strategies for the identification of missing persons. Additionally, she has experience in teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses, overseeing research projects, and developing and implementing training programs. Her research and professional contributions have significantly advanced the field of forensic science, particularly in the context of identifying missing persons and degraded human remains.
